Unassigned messages by default

I’d like to have all new incoming messages to be unassigned, and then let users assign themselves as needed instead of letting the system auto-assign. I’d rather not auto-assign, because there might be scenarios where certain users aren’t available to reply during certain days.

I gave thought to creating an “Unassigned Message” user and assign all incoming to it, but this feels a little kludgey.

Thoughts on how to accomplish this?

Hey Ryan, I like the pic!

Charles had to give me the actual definition for a kludge but I'm on board now.

Actually the reason we allow unlimited users is for reasons just like this. Many of Mailroom’s users get creative with users and several use a dummy user as the incoming unassigned message bucket. The only thing to be careful of is to be sure to reassign the message to yourself before answering. Otherwise you can have two people answer the same message at the same time.

Good question Ryan. Try it out and if it still feels kludgey we can figure out something else.
