New saved replies not showing up in dropdown

Ok, last post for awhile, I promise. When our old mailroom account wasn’t performing well after all of the upgrades and whatnot, we stopped using it. I set up a fresh account yesterday so I’m finding some issues as I start heavily using it again. This time around I am choosing to manage saved replies by hand. This morning I signed in, received an email I wanted to create a saved reply for and saved it. I went back to needs attention, opened it, clicked reply and my saved reply is not available in the “saved reply” dropdown. I am guessing I can log out and back in to get it but I’m sure you’ve intended it to automatically populate that. UPDATE: yes, logging out and back in, the new saved reply is in the suggest box. PS: It would be nice to have a checkbox on the compose screen to save a reply as you’re editing? Would make the workflow of adding new replies when you’ve elected to manage them by hand a little easier. I realize adding to the UI is a complex decision but for those that choose to manage them by hand (kind of anal-retentive freaks like myself), it would be a useful control – especially in the getting-up-to-speed period. |

Brian, You are full of great ideas! :-) When you add a new saved reply it should appear in your Suggested Replies box without a reload, but there might be a bug there. We’ll file it and see what we can figure out. We have also been thinking about adding a checkbox to the reply area like you suggest for awhile but we haven’t worked out an interface that we are happy with yet. Once we have that figured out we’ll add it right away. |

I am having this problem currently. Has it been acknowledged as a bug yet? I find that I have to wait a while for items to show up. I have the same issue with the RECIPIENT_FIRST sort of fields where they look like they were not replaced until about 10 minutes after it was sent. |

That is a good observation Erik. What you are seeing is events that are not updated until the entire action is completed and the Mailroom makes a round trip to the servers to update the information on your screen. In the case of name insertion when you click send button the email goes to the servers and the name is inserted along with several other things then the email is sent. During peak times this process may be a couple minutes (something we are speeding up). Then when you click on the message again in Mailroom (say in the all messages page) you see the state of the email that was already loaded into your browser. In the background Mailroom will ping the server to see if there is any new information then download. This process can take up to 30 sec during high usage as well. If the name has not yet been inserted then you will get the email in raw format on your screen. You’ll notice this often happens if you view the sent email in your RSS feed. We have seen this happen more as more people are using Mailroom. We have already designed several solution making clicking around feel much more consistent. The bulk of them will be included with the release of the 3rd revision of Mailroom next summer. Thanks for the observation and question! |
